He was joined by Nelson Mandela’s wife, Graça Machel and members of the family. Paul Gambaccini was chairing the star-studded gala, which included a special birthday tribute by Morgan Freeman. Notable guests came along to the dinner include Forest and Keisha Whitaker, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys and Spike Lee.

The dinner culminated a Christie’s auction which included, MASINCEDANE  ‘the hand that helps others’ which was bought by Morgan Freeman at the auction.

Nelson Mandela’s hand was engraved on a solid silver sheet, the lines on his hand paveed with white Diamonds and the entire piece was mounted on a piece of rock from Robben Island. The plaque also featured his signature and a quote.
